This week we will be reading Fellowship Concerning the Urgent Need of the Vital Groups, Messages 16 and 17. This book is available for purchase from Living Stream Ministry. You can also read it online at ministrybooks.org.
Fellowship Concerning the Urgent Need of the Vital Groups Message 16 is on being burdened with God’s loving concern for sinners and with converting sinners into members of Christ for the carrying out of God’s economy. We see God’s love for man in John 3:16 and His desire for all men to be saved 1 Tim 2:4. Our vital groups should learn how to be burdened with our Father’s loving concern toward the sinners. Paul was a priest of the gospel who offered all the Gentiles to God as sacrifices (Rom 15:16). Paul was burdened to fulfill his ministry to convert sinners into members of Christ for the building up of the Body of Christ to accomplish God’s economy. We need to not just have God’s loving concern for sinners, but to pick up the burden to carry out God’s economy. In the vital groups we need to be blended together into a corporate priesthood to carry out such a priestly service.
Message 17 is more fellowship concerning the living contents of the vital groups. In the first section of the vital group meeting, we should have the proper, intimate, and thorough fellowship with one another by exercising our spirit with much and thorough prayer. In this section of the meeting, there should be the elements of fellowshipping and interceding, caring, shepherding, and visitation. The second section of the meeting is the teaching in mutuality with the mutual asking and answering of questions. The group meetings should not be a formal, religious worship service, but we should fellowship freely, sing freely, pray freely, and ask and answer questions freely without formality.
