God-ordained Way Reading Program—
Week of May 27, 2012

This week we will continue with The Training and the Practice of the Vital Groups for the God-ordained way reading schedule for the churches in Anaheim, Cypress, and Orange. Detailed information including the full reading schedule is available at churchinanaheim.org/gowreading/.

This week we will be reading The Training and the Practice of the Vital Groups, Chapters 3 and 4. This book is available for purchase from Living Stream Ministry. You can also read it online at ministrybooks.org. (Please note: Because the Introductory Word is counted as a chapter on ministrybooks.org, Chapters 3 and 4 are listed as chapters 4 and 5 there.)

The Training and the Practice of the Vital Groups Chapter Three is about how to start your vital group. By this point Brother Lee had released many messages concerning the God-ordained way with the vital groups, so he was burdened to speak something that would help us be brought into the actual practice of the vital groups. To start our vital group we first have to fellowship with our companion through desperate prayers for the Lord’s blessing. We start from the first step of the God-ordained way–to get sinners saved to make them the members of the Body of Christ. We should review all of our acquaintances, make a list of them, pray over the name list, and seek the Lord’s leading concerning who should be the first to take care of. This chapter also lists several ways to visit, to contact, and to gain the gospel candidates.

In Chapter Four we are brought to consider the condition of our vital group by responding to eight questions: “Have you started your vital group? Have you rekindled your new man? Have you refilled your lamp? Have you fanned your flame? Have you started to have the intimate and thorough fellowship with your companion? How many times? Do you keep your repenting prayer continuously? Have you and your companion made a name list of all your possible candidates? Have you all prayed for your candidates and received the Lord’s leading concerning whom you should contact?”

Quote from p. 37: “Are we really vital? We do not want mere terminology but the actual experience of being vital persons in the God-ordained way.”
