Fellow Citizens

I am married with three children and am employed as a mechanical engineer. I became a Christian, at age 16, after a 12-year period in the Presbyterian denomination. During my last year in high school, Stanford University notified me that I would not be admitted. I had applied too late. The disappointing news devastated me because going to Stanford was my only goal in high school.

This crisis caused me to seek the Lord in a deeper way. Shortly thereafter, the search began for “something” more. Then a baseball buddy invited me to a Christian meeting in his home. They called themselves the church in CB. They were very serious about the Lord—which was expressed in their joy, countenance and living.

Being of Japanese descent, I never felt I “fit” in the United States. During summer visits to Japan in my high school years, I recall thinking, “These are my people, this is my home.” I thought one day I would return to my own people, to my own country. Yet, when I stepped into the meeting where I knew only two people, I felt comfortable! I was home, I belonged here. I sensed, “This is it.” I was a fellow citizen with the saints and members of the household of God (Eph. 2:19). Through the church in CB, I experienced the reality of Christ in my daily living and began to love the Lord and His Word.

Since that time, for over a quarter century, I have been meeting with the local churches and have enjoyed the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. Their ministries have opened up the Bible and caused me to deeply love the Lord and to consecrate my entire life and living to Him. I have seen God’s eternal purpose (i.e., to receive Christ, grow in Christ, share Christ, to be built up as part of the Body of Christ, to become His prepared Bride, and ultimately to be transformed into one of the very constituents of the New Jerusalem).

I worship the Lord for His mercy. He has led me to Christ and to the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. Both brothers have directed me to a wonderful Christ and His purpose, and have helped me to live a life that hastens His return.
