Enjoying Christ as My Portion

I’m 48 years old, and I come from Vietnam. I came to the United States 12 years ago as a refugee. I was attracted by the Lord when I came to California from Houston in 1987. Before, I did not know anything about the Lord Jesus Christ becoming the life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45). I had never heard about God’s salvation and God’s eternal plan. I remember a day in July 1987, when a Christian brother and sister came to my house and preached the gospel to me. At that time I still did not know the Word of God, but I began attending meetings of the church in Anaheim with this brother. At my first meeting, I was very confused about how many believers were speaking the Word of God. But later on I realized that they were all speaking one thing—Christ. Now I can see a little bit about Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:32). At that time, I always asked others to explain to me who Christ is. Now I know that Christ is not only the Son of God but he is also the Spirit. He is the center of everything in the church. Christ is everything to me and even He is one with me in spirit (I Corinthians 6:17).

I also would like to give thanks for the ministry of Witness Lee. After a few years in the local church, I saw and heard Witness Lee giving messages concerning the church as the Body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22, 23). Christ is the head and also the body. We are the living members expressing Him (Ephesians 5:30).

Thank the Lord I have now been meeting with the local church for 12 years. Although I realized many things, language was a barrier to me in the bigger meetings. Now I can truly say that I enjoy the Lord very much in my small home meeting. I can enjoy Christ as my food, the bread of life, by eating Him and drinking of Him (John 6:35). I can testify that the more I eat Him by speaking His word, the more I enjoy Him as the bread of life and as my portion (John 6:48; Colossians 1:12)

Lastly, I pray that the Lord would keep me, so I can follow Him, learn of Him and worship Him as my Lord and my Savior forever.

Thank you, Lord. Amen!
