Coming to Know the Triune God

When I was a toddler, I received an injury and nearly died. From that point on my parents often reminded me that God saved my life. From a young age I can remember having conversations with God. I remember at age 4½ praying for my classmates to have the same contact with the Lord that I did. At home, I would try to teach my siblings Bible verses. This went on until 7th grade when I tried my best to consecrate myself to the Lord. At 17, I first heard about Witness Lee. Sixteen months later, I heard him speak in Seattle. A few months later I met him and asked him, “What do you believe concerning the Triune God?”

The next day I got an answer in a message he was sharing. He gave 10 verses to answer my question. God was definitely three, yet one in Isaiah 9:6 and some verses in John were just as strong. Then after the meeting, he came to me and asked me if I had gotten my question answered. I was speechless.

When I attended his memorial in the summer of ‘97, I realized just how much he was consecrated to the Lord. If I had looked for it, I would have seen this consecration previously. Then I asked the Lord, “What next?” He led me to move to Anaheim, California. When I told Him that I couldn’t do it on my income, He arranged it. Ten months later I was in California.

At this point I entered the Full-Time Training in Anaheim for a short time. As a student, I read materials by Witness Lee and Watchman Nee. Not only did I have read them, but we were tested 6 days a week on our assignments from the previous week. This was more grueling than my study in Pharmacy Assisting where I graduated on the honor roll where we were tested on medication usage, side effects, dosages, and what other drugs they interact with.

However, one of our classes was on the Triune God. Then I passed the final exam where we had to show that God is three yet one. I was amazed. During this time, I started to serve with the Life-Study of the Bible radio program. Reading the Life-studies of Acts, Isaiah, Exodus, and Galatians opened my eyes to what God is doing, His plan and purpose and the way He is carrying it out, not only on the earth, but in us. As I have seen these things, I have been praying. And, the Lord has definitely been operating in me. There has been a definite change in my life. The most amazing thing to me is my thoughts, feelings, decisions, and disposition are in the process of change. My reactions and responses are much different then 16 months ago, before entering the training. Now, I am looking to the Lord more in everything I do.
